An elegant fusion of traditional Balinese with contemporary grandeur gives The Ylang Ylang the feel of a spiritual palace, where one can unite body, mind and soul. The symmetrical architectural concept emphasises majestic dimensions to create a series of intimate, luxurious spaces.

The Ylang Ylang is characterized by a central, two-storey living and dining pavilion additionally comprising the kitchen and the studio on the ground floor, and a gallery on the upper floor, as well as a rooftop meditation deck, accompanied by a rooftop massage and spa treatment area.

The pavilion opens onto the garden and swimming pool, which is flanked on either side by a pair of symmetrical wings, incorporating a total of six bedrooms.

Bedrooms

The right and left wings of The Ylang Ylang present six ground level bedrooms, centred on a large courtyard pool with unobstructed sea views. The spacious bedrooms all feature cool terrazzo floors under high roofs. Sumptuous interiors are characterized by mirrors, canopied beds, artifacts, sculptures and recessed mood lighting. Silk covers, blackout curtains and mosquito nets are fashioned from the best Italian designer fabrics.

Each room is equipped with an iPod dock, telephone and safe deposit box. Bathrooms feature hand carved stone statue and freezes, and are equipped with weighing scales, hairdryers and a generous array of the Ylang Ylang's own shower & bath products made from natural ylang ylang ingredients.

The two Ocean View Master bedrooms are each furnished with a king size bed, a dressing table, a TV and a DVD player; the adjoining bathrooms are fitted with walk in rainshowers, twin washbasins and sunken baths, offering a moonlit bathing experience under a pyramid glass roof.

Each master suite boasts a private terrace with its own private plunge pool. Adjacent to the master bedrooms are the two Queen Bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath and shower. Adjoining doors from the Queen Rooms open into the two Junior Rooms, each with twin beds and ensuite, sunny, glass-roofed bathrooms with shower and toilet facilities. Two extra beds are available for kids.

Living and Dining Pavilion

The Living & Dining Pavilion is the heart and social hub of the villa. With two floors, open sides and a soaring roof, it is cooled by the cross ventilation of natural sea breezes, as well as by ceiling fans. The central section is furnished with daybeds, sofas and low tables. A black and gold theme, rich designer fabrics and flowing curtains combine to create a soft and sensuous mood. Chairs and a card table positioned to one side create another area for relaxing.

At one end is a large dining table for up to 14 dinner guests next to a panel of gold painted mirrored tiles. A splendid staircase leads up to a timber floored gallery, at the front of which, centrally positioned on a balcony overlooking the garden and pool, is a luxuriant daybed; this intimate lounging area, complete with folding glass doors, offers fabulous views accompanied by the ceaseless murmur of the waves. On one side of the gallery is a rooftop meditation deck, and on the other side a shady rooftop massage and spa treatment area, furnished with cushions. A guest washroom is situated just outside the main living area

The Studio

Positioned at one end of the Living & Dining Pavilion, the air-conditioned Studio is a state-of-the-art home theater, where guests can laze in front of a large cinema screen, supported by a top of the range surround sound and music system, and a projector for showing movies and DVDs, in addition to satellite TV channels.

The extensive library presents 200 movies, as well as a wide-ranging collection of reference books, coffee table books, guidebooks and novels in several different languages. A desk with a computer and printer is provided for guest use with free access to Broadband Internet.

  • One private swimming pool (15 m x 5 m)

  • DVD and CD library
  • Book library
  • Gazebo (2)
  • Gym

Kitchen

The kitchen is located beside the dining area; when the door is closed it is completely separate, and when the door is open it becomes a feature. Showcasing dark wood fittings and a central bar, the kitchen is equipped with a full range of appliances including a wine cooler with a superb selection of fine wines from around the world.

There is also a special collection of health, diet and recipe books. The Ylang Ylang offers an international range of gourmet dishes prepared by an excellent chef. Every day, guests can experience a series of original Asian, fusion or Italian dishes, or whatever guests desire, to satisfy their appetites.

Garden and Pool

With a 15 x 5 metre swimming pool as its centre point, the elevated garden extends all the way to the beach, bordered by a tidal river that alters its course with changing of the seasons. The pool deck is furnished with multifunctional sunbeds fashioned from weatherproof rattan, topped with mattresses and bolsters. At night a romantic ambience is created with magical soft lighting and fire bowls. Immediately in front of the river is a timber sundeck, complete with loungers and a table shaded by the trees.

The glistening black sand is rich in minerals and the view across the Badung Strait to the trio of islands known as Lembongan, Ceningan and Penida is particularly spectacular at sunrise. The garden is dotted with stone sculptures and frangipanis and bounded with coconut palms. In each corner, overlooking the beach, is a bale pavilion; one designed for romantic dining and the other for relaxation and massage.

The entrance garden is ornamented with lily ponds and Balinese statues; tiny islands support sweet-scented frangipani trees, and the courtyard offers secure parking for several cars.

Gym

The glass fronted gym is located in the garden and equipped with an exercise bike, a tummy trim, an Ab Shaper and a Delta Infinity Gravity walker.

A precious facility is the four-person infrared sauna; the health giving properties of infrared are extraordinary, allowing us to activate the sweat glands and eliminate toxins, while also increasing circulation, boosting the immune system, rejuvenating skin cells, promoting weight loss and improving our well being.

Food and Beverages

The Ylang-Ylang boasts a dining service with a wonderful array of international dishes. Many Western meals are available, but we recommend you to try some of the local Balinese dishes for a unique cultural experience!

Dinner parties and small functions can all be catered within the villa for a group of maximum 20 guests. Please ask the chef or manager for more details at any time of the day, whether you are requesting breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks. Additional fees apply for larger gatherings. Please ensure to bring to the attention of the reservations staff if you wish to host a large function at the villa.

Food & Beverage Charges

Food and beverage items are charged based on grocery cost system. Guests will need to provide some money in advance and the staff will do the shopping for you and keep the receipts for your reference. Food items and beverage are charged at cost price. Please ask your manager if you wish to check your daily expense.

Special Requests & Dietary Requirements

Should you have a request for a dish not on the menu, or a special dietary requirement, please feel free to ask the chef, who will strive to comply with all of your wishes.

Large Dining Groups

While the villa has large food preparation areas, it is not a restaurant and cannot support each individual guest ordering different foods for same dining periods. If you have a large group it is advisable that the group dines on the same dish or that you order several dishes to be shared. Please allow at least one day notice, and feel free to discuss any requirements with the chef or villa manager.

Conceived in perfect symbiosis with its surroundings, spa treatments at The Ylang Ylang can be prepared in the privacy of the guestrooms, or in any outdoor setting. To combine beauty and well-being, traditional treatments such as mandi lulur, Balinese massage or reflexology, administered by a natural healer, will make guests feel reborn, awakening the senses and the secret harmony between the mind and the body.

Spa treatments are provided by an outside spa provider. Once you are in residence please ask the villa staff to assist you to make appointments.

Those who are sufficiently focused will be aware of a powerful spiritual energy at The Ylang Ylang, making it the ideal place to unite body, soul and mind through the practice of yoga and meditation. An organized retreat at this peaceful sanctuary can be a profound learning experience, and a chance to acquire new skills, possibly with the expertise of a Visiting Master. In keeping with this concept, the chef is skilled in the preparation of fresh, wholesome and healthy cuisine.
