The approach to Simona Oasis & Spa is by way of a paved driveway, which winds through the rice terraces, towards a wooded valley and over a bridge onto the river island.

A grand Balinese gateway opens to reveal an entrance garden, complete with traveller’s palms and a huge Palimanan stone wall showcasing a splendid carving of tropical leaves. Yet, even at this stage, you will still have no idea of the blissful Oasis that lies within. Expect to be surprised…

Accomodation

Dappled by trees during the day and softly lit by candles at night, the gardens link a series of thatched pavilions for sleeping, lounging and dining. The layout of the villa utilises space, offering a captivating mix of luxury and privacy

Bedrooms

Imagine sleeping on a supremely comfortable bed draped in Pratesi. The worlds finest bed linen. To complement the Villa’s sumptuous facilities, the owner has chosen to dress the beds with the most luxurious brand in home linens. Pratesi is a family company, famous for the beauty and preciousness of its collections, the sophistication of its fabrics and the elegance of its design.

Four of the bedrooms, including the master, are furnished with king-size beds, while the fifth bedroom is twin-bedded. Each bedroom is equipped with an individually controlled LCD satellite TV accompanying DVD player, quality sound system and iPod dock. Every need is further considered with the provision of safe deposit boxes and mini bars.

In the ensuite garden bathrooms, you can slip into in a dreamy outdoor tub or enjoy a raindrop shower big enough for two – complemented by twin washbasins and premium Italian bath products, fluffy Pratesi towels, fresh flowers and flickering candles.

In the alfresco bathroom in the master suite, fashioned in the style of a water palace, you can relish a hot bubbling Jacuzzi under a thatched roof beside the Pangi River.

Living and Dining Pavilion

The open-sided living & dining pavilion presides over the garden, inviting nature indoors, and imbuing the Villa with a grand sense of scale. Shaded from both the morning and afternoon sun, comfort is further ensured by custom-made furnishings, translucent drapes and yielding cushions, together with a large dining table and a well-stocked bar.

The coffee and cream décor, and the reddish-hued bengkirai wood floor, sets the theme throughout the property, while natural breezes and paddle ceiling fans keep the area cool.

Kitchen

The Kitchen is a chef’s dream. Spacious, immaculate and professionally equipped, it features cream terrazzo surfaces, cabinets and adjacent store rooms. There is also a laundry and a service area hidden away at the back.

Pool and Garden

The grass and paving stone chequerboard terrace is ideal for weddings, Balinese dance performances and cocktail parties. Lined with black volcanic stone, the classic 13-metre swimming pool is evocative of a river rock pool. It is flanked by a delightful gazebo known as a ‘bale bengong’, meaning ‘a place to relax, dream and do nothing’. Complete with a large wooden cowbell, which you can ring whenever you need to be served with drinks, refreshments or lunch, the gazebo is set against a backdrop of towering trees, river and rice terraces. Three Buddha statues rest serenely in alcoves watching over the garden.

Hugging the two valleys, broad canopied fig trees, rippling banana leaves and giant bamboo mingle with tall coconut palms. Richly-coloured dragonflies glide upon the thermals, yellow and black butterflies flit from flower to flower, and a sudden flash of iridescent blue indicates the presence of a Java kingfisher. SPA

While many villas in Bali offer spa services, only a handful provide the facility of a professional dedicated spa onsite, fully-equipped with the amenities of a commercial spa, complete with highly-trained therapists who will pamper you with some of Bali’s most exotic spa elixirs. In the creation of its Spa, Simona Oasis was a pioneer in this new, trendsetting concept in luxury holiday lifestyle.

The Spa is positioned on the venerated apex of the island where the two river tributaries are reunited; a magical setting, accessed by a bridge under a pergola dripping in cascading lilac thunbergia.

The Spa comprises five open-sided roundhouses following the architectural style of Irian Jaya, complete with conical thatched roofs. These breezy, romantic pavilions shelter massage beds while providing easy access to a dedicated icy cold plunge pool and a hot Jacuzzi.

Additionally, a gorgeous pair of stone bathtubs rests within an alfresco pool; each tub is hand-carved in the form of a two-headed elephant with flowers engraved upon its flanks and water spouting from its trunks.

The Spa completes itself with a yoga & meditation deck beside a gentle water cascade. On the opposite side of the river is Batur Sari Temple, where the local Balinese people make offerings of flowers and fruit to the gods.

Pure spring water is the key element at the Spa, making it ‘a place with the water of life’. The extensive menu presents ‘Four-Hand Massage’, ‘After-Sun Therapy’, ‘Reflexology’, ‘Simona Facial’, and the lymphatic-drainage massage designed to reduce fluid retention and cellulite.

Traditional scrubs include ‘Balinese Boreh’, an ancient village remedy for the relief of muscular aches and pains after long days of toiling in the rice fields – potent spices and herbs are blended into a fragrant paste and applied to your body as a warming, healing masque.

Treatments for men are emphasised, as are rituals for lovers, such as the ‘Honeymoon Package’, which incorporates a green tea scrub, an aromatherapy hair treatment and ‘Cleopatra’s Bath’… surrounded by nature and harmonised by the glorious song of the river.
